Sudan faces its worst cholera outbreak in years
In August, Sudan’s cholera outbreak intensified, with over 40 deaths reported in a single week and thousands of cases emerging. The conflict between the army and Rapid Support Forces has devastated infrastructure, forcing millions into overcrowded camps with limited access to clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. Heavy rains and dire living conditions have further deteriorated basic welfare, exposing vulnerable populations to heightened disease risks. Humanitarian aid efforts have been severely constrained by the ongoing violence and logistical challenges, leaving health facilities overwhelmed and unable to meet the growing needs.
