International IDEA has supported the strengthening of democratic institutions and processes in Moldova since 2015. Together with the Central Electoral Commission, Centre for Continuous Electoral Training civil society watchdogs, and social media platforms, the Institute works to enhance political finance reporting and oversight, with a particular focus on improving state and CSO capacity for monitoring and protecting the integrity of online political campaigns.

We frequently engage Moldovan actors and institutions in our region-wide work promoting democratic constitutional design and support for constitutionalism. We do so by engaging Moldovan constitutional law experts for the benefit of constitutional reforms in the country and wider Europe. In 2022, International IDEA established a Network for the Promotion of Constitutionalism in Eastern Europe, which also comprises prominent constitutional scholars and practitioners from Moldova.
