Can democracy keep pace with a world on the move? 

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), under the EU-funded Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Women’s Leadership Initiative, is organizing on the 10-11 September, a two-day South Asia Regional Dialogue in Kathmandu, Nepal, focused on advancing transformative gender social norms to enhance the participation and representation of women and youth in leadership and decision-making.

International IDEA will conduct a session on Youth Democracy Academy, a learning program that provides knowledge and skills for young people to be more engaged in political processes, at the 2nd General Assembly and 3rd Asia Indigenous Youth Conference hosted by the Asia Indigenous Youth Platform (AIYP).

International IDEA, in collaboration with the ECOWAS Network of Electoral Commissions (ECONEC), through the EU funded Strengthening pan-African capacities for electoral observation and assistance (SPEC) project is pleased to announce the Africa Regional Workshop on Protecting Elections in the Information Environment, scheduled to take place from 26 to 28 August 2025 in Abuja, Nigeria.

International IDEA in partnership with the African Union under the EU-funded project “Strengthening Pan-African Capacities for Electoral Observation and Assistance Project", is proud to announce the upcoming Building Resources in Democracy, Governance, and Elections (BRIDGE) training workshop. This initiative targets Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and EMB Networks from countries across Africa scheduled to hold elections in 2026 and 2027.

Bangladesh is at a crucial juncture with significant reforms being proposed to its constitution. This period presents a challenge and an opportunity for Bangladesh’s democratic transition.
