Canada’s announcement on the launch of the foreign information, manipulation and interference project
At the third Summit for Democracy on the 20th of March 2024, the Canadian Prime Minister’s Office announced the collaborative project to counter foreign information, manipulation and interference (FIMI) in the Francophonie together with International IDEA. The project is part of a wider commitment to strengthen democracies announced at the third Summit for Democracy in South Korea.
Combating Electoral Foreign Information, Manipulation and Interference
The project, implemented by International IDEA with the funding from the Global Affairs Canada, aims to reinforce the resilience of democracy against foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI) in four countries from 2024 to 2027.
Towards an enlarged union: Upholding the rule of law
The Belgian presidency of the Council of the EU partnered with International IDEA to release the policy paper “Towards an enlarged union: upholding the rule of law”. This paper guided the discussions among Europe ministers at the informal General Affairs Council (Brussels, 29-30 April 2024).
