South Asia Young Women’s Empowerment Academy

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is organizing a three-day Young Women’s Empowerment Academy from 16–18 September, bringing together participants from Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Held under the EU-funded Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Women’s Leadership Initiative, and in partnership with UN Women, the academy aims to build the leadership capacities of young women and promote transformative gender social norms across South Asia.

The academy seeks to strengthen young women’s voices in public and political life by addressing the structural barriers they face, especially in rural areas or when entering leadership for the first time. Through training, experiential learning, and peer exchange, the academy will equip participants with tools to influence political processes, advocate for gender equality, and contribute to more inclusive democratic development in their communities.

This is a closed activity and attendance is strictly by formal invitation only.
