International IDEA is hosting at its Stockholm Headquarters on 22 January 2020, the workshop The Ballot - A simple piece of paper or an instrument of power?

Ballot papers have significance on many levels: as a tangible interface for citizens with their governments; as the means by which political choices are made specific and visible; as the foundation for the count and allocation of seats; as a historical artifact. The design of the ballot paper affects each of these functions.

At this workshop we will creatively deconstruct ballots in order to better understand how to systematize and explain different design choices.
