Gram Matenga is Senior Programme Officer for the Africa and West Asia region. Matenga is responsible for managing International IDEA`s programme in Southern Africa.

The programme cuts across International IDEA's areas of expertise including electoral processes; political parties, participation and representation; and democracy and development. His role includes forging strategic partnerships and driving new and innovative programme initiatives for International IDEA in Southern Africa.

Before joining International IDEA, Matenga served as Programme Coordinator with UNDP in Zimbabwe where he managed peace building and social cohesion programme. He also worked for National Democratic Institute in different countries as a Senior Programme Manager for an Elections and Citizen Participation Programme for Zimbabwe and Angola; Programme Manager for Elections Programme in Zambia, Senior Programme Officer for Elections and Citizen Participation in South Sudan.

Matenga also has managed democracy and governance programmes for various international organisations in Somaliland, Jamaica and his native home country of Zimbabwe.
