Africa and West Asia regional launch of the Global State of Democracy 2026 Report
Can democracy survive the conflict, unrest, and political strain we see around us today?
It is the question at the heart of this year's Global State of Democracy Report, and one International IDEA's Africa and West Asia Regional Office will discuss.
Drawing on International IDEA's Global State of Democracy Indices, the most comprehensive dataset of its kind, this year's report examines how the strength of a country's democracy shapes its risk of conflict, both within its borders and beyond them.
The Pretoria launch event opens with remarks from International IDEA's AWA leadership, followed by a presentation of the report's key findings. Then a high-level panel bringing together policymakers, researchers, and civil society voices to talk about what democracy and conflict look like in Africa and West Asia today, and what it will take to protect democracy.
This is an in-person event. Whether you work in government, research, civil society, or media, your voice belongs in this conversation. Registration is required, and spaces are limited.
