Annual Reviews of Global Elections
In June 2025, International IDEA and the Electoral Integrity Project (EIP) published Review of the 2024 Super-Cycle Year of Elections: Trends, Challenges and Opportunities. The report examined the key trends and challenges that shaped the unprecedented 2024 super-cycle of elections, highlighting lessons learned, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen electoral integrity worldwide.
In early September 2026, International IDEA and the Electoral Integrity Project will launch the second edition of the Review of the 2025 Year of Elections: Trust, Innovation and Diversity. Building on the inaugural publication, this new report broadens the analysis to examine both the challenges to electoral integrity and innovations in electoral administration.
The publication provides election practitioners, researchers, policymakers and the wider public with a comprehensive overview of global trends in electoral integrity, analyses emerging challenges affecting the administration of elections, and highlights innovative approaches and good practices from around the world.
Produced through close collaboration between International IDEA and the Electoral Integrity Project, the report draws on extensive expert discussions, global comparative analysis and multidisciplinary reflection. It synthesizes the key trends observed throughout 2025 and offers evidence-based insights to inform future policy, practice and research on electoral integrity.
