La cobertura periodística peruana en 2026 estará marcada por las Elecciones Generales de abril, en un contexto especialmente desafiante: nuevas normas electorales, retorno a la bicameralidad, alta fragmentación política, bajos niveles de confianza ciudadana y un ecosistema digital donde proliferan narrativas engañosas potenciadas por tecnologías emergentes. Frente a este escenario, dos prioridades se vuelven centrales para el periodismo: proteger la integridad del ejercicio profesional y fortalecer las capacidades para enfrentar la desinformación electoral.

The Africa and West Asia Electoral Process Programme of International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA), in collaboration with the African Union (AU) is organizing a reflection and technical meeting on electoral processes in Africa. The meeting will take place from April 9th to 12th April 2025, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa, in partnership with International IDEA, will convene a policy dialogue in Addis Ababa to examine and explore ways to make elections more meaningful to African citizens beyond the ballot. 

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) is partnering with the African Union (AU) on the implementation of this activity, within the framework of its MOU with the African Union Commission (AUC). International IDEA is providing technical and financial support through the EU-funded Strengthening Pan-African Capacities for Electoral Observation and Assistance (SPEC) project.

Within the framework of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the Electoral Commissions’ Forum of SADC Countries (ECF SADC) is collaborating with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA) to organize the 12th New Commissioners’ Orientation (NCO) Programme, that will be hosted by the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), in Lusaka, Zambia from August 27-29, 2024.

El seminario internacional "Financiamiento político en América Latina: Supervisión, transparencia y el rol de la vigilancia ciudadana" busca promover la transparencia y la integridad en el financiamiento político a través de un intercambio de experiencias, estrategias y buenas prácticas entre organismos electorales, colectivos ciudadanos, académicos y periodistas tanto a nivel local como internacional. El diálogo girará en torno a los mecanismos de supervisión y regulación del financiamiento político y al fomento de una cultura de rendición de cuentas.
