INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership – EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments  is organising a Workshop on Gender Strategies for Parliamentary Development Programmes.

The INTER PARES project, funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, aims to strengthen representative and inclusive democracy through support to the effective functioning of parliaments in partner countries, by enhancing their legislative, oversight, representative, budgetary and administrative functions. The project aims to contribute to SDG 5.5 “Ensuring women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life”.

The workshop will be set up as a practical, brainstorming session, aiming to explore innovative ideas and tools that can help increase the impact of parliamentary development programmes on gender equality and women’s empowerment. It will gather parliamentarians, parliamentary staff and development practitioners to closely examine how peer-to-peer exchange programmes are contributing effectively to gender equality.

The workshop will take place in Brussels, Belgium on 15 October 2019 starting at 9:30 am until 5 pm at Muntpunt, Munt 6, 1000 Brussels.
