Youth Democracy Academy at the 3rd Asia Indigenous Youth Conference

International IDEA will conduct a session on Youth Democracy Academy, a learning program that provides knowledge and skills for young people to be more engaged in political processes, at the 2nd General Assembly and 3rd Asia Indigenous Youth Conference hosted by the Asia Indigenous Youth Platform (AIYP). The conference will be held from 29 to 31 August in Chiang Mai, Thailand. 

AIYP is a member organization of young Indigenous leaders and advocates from 12 member countries of the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact that is committed to strengthening the collective voices and actions of Indigenous youth across Asia. The assembly will also be participated by members of the Asia Young Indigenous Peoples Network (AYIPN), a non-profit focused on advancing the rights of Indigenous youth.

While there are regional platforms such as AIYP and AYIPN, Indigenous youth in the region remain disconnected and under resourced, limiting the collective impact of their efforts. Through this conference, both organizations will work together to strengthen their solidarity and coordination towards leadership development and capacity building.
