Covid-19 and civil and political rights

11 May 2021
17:00 - 18:30 (CET) / 11:00 -12:30 (EDT)
Online (via Zoom)

The Covid-19 crisis is expected to have a far-reaching and long-term humanitarian and socio-economic impact. Nevertheless, we are also faced with the opportunity to rethink and redefine norms and policies for a social and economic recovery with a human rights-based approach to build a greener, healthier and more equitable world where no one is left behind.

To facilitate a conversation on these issues and make proposals for development cooperation policies to strengthen international cooperation on migration, the General Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Catalan Government launched a webinar series on Covid-19 & cooperation. As part of this initiative and to contribute to the debate, International IDEA will participate in a webinar on the topic of 'Covid-19 & civil and political rights'
Join us to discuss:
  • State obligations and exceptional measures in the context of the pandemic;
  • The impact of Covid-19 on electoral processes;
  • Fake news - the pandemic of misinformation (infodemic);
  • The role of civil society during and after the pandemic;
  • Lessons learned; and
  • Recommendations on how to strengthen a development cooperation model more focused on civil and political rights in contexts of exceptional measures.
