Rita Rai has been working with International IDEA, Nepal since 2008. She is currently the Communications and Social Inclusion Officer.

Prior to her appointment to International IDEA Nepal's office, she worked as a freelance consultant for various organizations including the Nepal Center for Contemporary Studies (NCCS) at the Nepal Health Research Council.

She received a fellowship grant from Social Inclusion Research Fund (SIRF) of SNV Nepal to conduct a research on ‘Gender Discrimination, Nature and Practice in Rai and Brahmin Community’ (2007).

She has participated in various trainings and workshops including training on Research Mythology, Journalism, Federalism, Anchoring, Leadership, and Professional Capacity Building.
