BIOGRAPHY  

Nicholas Matatu is a former Programme Officer at International IDEA's Africa and West Asia regional office in Addis Ababa.

Matatu’s work focused on strengthening the integrity of electoral processes. He provided support to electoral management bodies in the implementation of the Electoral Risk Management Tool, and collaborated with electoral stakeholders to strengthen human capacity, advocate for inclusive policies and promote dialogue between actors in the electoral process. 

Matatu has been working in the area of electoral assistance since 2004. Before joining International IDEA, Matatu worked extensively in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal and Mali to support electoral operations, electoral training, civic and voter education and electoral violence monitoring. He has also provided expertise in several other African countries.
