Electoral processes


Matatu’s work at International IDEA focuses on strengthening the integrity of electoral processes. His work includes providing support to Electoral Management Bodies in the implementation of the Electoral Risk Management Tool, as well as collaborating with electoral stakeholders to strengthen human capacity, advocate for inclusive policies and promote dialogue between actors in the electoral process. 

Matatu has been working in the area of electoral assistance since 2004. Before joining International IDEA, Matatu worked extensively in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Senegal and Mali to support electoral operations, electoral training, civic and voter education and electoral violence monitoring. He has also provided expertise in several other African countries.

MA in International Political Economy (University of Kent’s Brussels School of International Studies, Belgium).
