Gavin Charles is the Speechwriter & Governance Officer in the Secretary-General's Office, Stockholm. He provides leadership and support on the Secretary-General’s external speeches and coordinates preparations for the Secretary-General’s international engagements.

Gavin joined International IDEA in August 2022. He was previously based in Canada, where he advised the shadow foreign minister, led the policy team at the national association of development and humanitarian organizations, and worked as an international security policy analyst in the federal public service. Throughout his career, he has focused on advancing sustainable and positive change in government policy, organizational strategy and stakeholder relations.
