Project ‘Nyamdrel | Support to Parliament of Bhutan and Civil Society Organisations seeks to foster effective engagement between the Parliament of Bhutan and the CSOs to provide an enabling environment towards strengthening participation in parliamentary businesses such as in the legislative and oversight processes.

The project’s goal is to strengthen and deepen the principle of democracy and good governance, and forge partnerships and active engagement between key stakeholders.

The project focuses on strengthening the capacity of Parliament to conduct public hearings and communicate effectively both internally and with the public to improve accessibility and transparency to further its role as an upholder of democratic principles, rule of law and human rights. Additionally, through the development of a strategy document for Parliament collaboration with the CSOs, the project seeks to systematically broaden the level of consultations and professional working relationship between the two.

Simultaneously, the project seeks to strengthen the capacity of the targeted national CSOs to pursue policy advocacy. Through the sub-grant mechanism, it tries to increase the visibility of CSO engagement with the media through research, publications and campaign. It also supports networking among civil society groups and organizations with policy makers.
