The Global State of Democracy Report 2025 - Democracy on the Move (594 x 300 mm)
On 26 November, International IDEA, the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Switzerland to Indonesia will convene a round table discussion on the political rights of overseas citizens.

Taking place in Jakarta and in commemoration of International IDEA’s 30th anniversary, the round table will provide a comprehensive examination of the good practices on the political participation of immigrants and emigrants in both their countries of origin and destination. It will address key issues related to democratic legitimacy, citizenship, and political inclusion within the framework of an increasingly mobile global population, drawing on insights from International IDEA’s Global State of Democracy (GSoD) 2025 Report, as well as other comparative references across regions.

Participants will discuss the challenges and opportunities of enshrining and protecting rights under three major themes:
·       Voting Rights
·       Representation
·       Civic Rights

This event is by invitation only. For further information, please contact Billie Phillips, Communications and Outreach Officer [k.phillips@idea.int]
