Chitanda was the Communications Assistant in the Africa and West Asia programme on the Gender Project since 2021.

Chitanda work focused on the visibility of the Women in Political Participation project and the Africa and West Asia Programme.

Chitanda has also worked on the same project as an administrative assistant in  2020 and as a consultant for International IDEA AWA for a year before.

Previously, she was the Communications Officer for the Department of Trade and Industry at the African Union Commission. She also previously worked as an administrator and admissions Officer at the University of Johannesburg’s Division for Internationalisation and as a Tutor for the Department of Journalism at the University of Johannesburg.

She was also an Intern at Forbes Africa Magazine and wrote for Forbes Africa and Forbes Women and CNBC Africa online platform, and the South African Broadcasting Corporation’s Morning Live show as a content producer intern in Johannesburg, South Africa.
