Mufuliat Fijabi
Mufuliat Fijabi is the Senior Programme Manager for the EU Support to End Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (ESGBV) Programme in Nigeria. Fijabi joined International IDEA in March 2026.
She is a Gender and Development Specialist with over 20 years of experience advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment. Her expertise spans policy development and advisory, leadership development and management, resource mobilization, and strategic communications.
She led the national Gender and Elections Watch Room for Nigeria’s 2019 and 2023 general elections and has supported election management bodies in Nigeria and across the African region in developing gender and inclusion policies. Mufuliat is a strong advocate for addressing democratic inequalities, particularly sexual and gender-based violence. She has developed training manuals and led interventions grounded in a survivor-centred approach to prevent and respond to sexual and gender-based violence.
She currently serves as Senior Programme Manager for the Ending Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Programme, supported by the European Union, at International IDEA's Nigeria office.
Her previous roles include Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Women Trust Fund; Gender Advisor at the International Foundation for Electoral Systems; National Gender Expert for the UNDP Democratic Governance for Development (DGD II) Project in Nigeria; and Senior Programme Officer at BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights. She also has a background in journalism, having worked with MiTV, Prime Communications, and as a Test Reporter with The Guardian Newspaper.
