Gerardo Cárdenas is Communications Officer at International IDEA’s Peru office, where he leads the design and implementation of communication strategies to strengthen the organisation’s institutional positioning and the impact of its initiatives in the country. He joined International IDEA in October 2023.

With more than 12 years of experience in traditional and digital media, his investigative reports have been published in outlets such as IDL-Reporteros, Mongabay Latam, Lado B (Mexico) and Agência Pública (Brazil), among others. Before joining International IDEA, he served as Head of Digital Product at RPP Noticias, where he led innovation and digital transformation processes.

He holds a degree in Journalism and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. His expertise lies in innovation, communication strategy, and digital product management, with a focus on leveraging digital tools to combat disinformation.
