Gary Klaukka

Former Senior Programme Officer

Gary Klaukka was a Senior Programme Officer in the Programme for INTER PARES | Parliaments in Partnership - EU Global Project to Strengthen the Capacity of Parliaments

Klaukka has experience working in both parliamentary support and political party strengthening programmes worldwide. He previously worked in UK politics as a political adviser to the Leader of the Opposition in the House of Lords, political assistant to the Leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, and as parliamentary assistant to other Members of Parliament and peers. He coordinated both parliamentary and local elections in the United Kingdom.

After working in UK politics, Gary joined International IDEA for the first time in Stockholm in 2016, working as Programme Officer in the political parties team. After this, he worked as the Head of Public Outreach and the Acting Head of Parliamentary Development at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in London, and then as Senior Programme Manager for NDI in Myanmar where he managed a political party strengthening project in Kachin and in Mandalay.
