Fiona Rowley was appointed as the Executive Director for International IDEA in June 2018 and served as the Acting Secretary-General from June 2019 to July 2019.

Rowley is responsible for finance, budgeting and programme performance, human resources and organizational development, ICT, risk management, resource mobilization, registry and facilities management.

Rowley’s previous work experience includes roles as the Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Electoral Officer responsible for corporate services at the Electoral Commission in South Africa. Before joining the Electoral Commission, she was contracted to PwC as Senior Management Consultant, and for whom she worked in various capacities for nearly 20 years. She is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
