Abel Firmino Manhique was a Programme Officer in Mozambique Office, Maputo.

Abel's responsibilities covered supporting the design and implementation of programme activities for the Mozambique Programme; providing technical and advisory support to programme partners and sub-implementers; planning and supporting capacity development activities (training, technical assistance, mentorship, exchanges); supporting the facilitation of workshops and consultative meetings for target audiences; contributing to the development of knowledge products, such as manuals, handbooks and research reports, in all areas of the Mozambique programme: parliamentary support, civic education, and electoral support as needed; providing inputs towards planning and budgeting of activities within a results-based management framework, in addition to other tasks. 

Abel has worked as Programme Officer at National Association of Municipalities of Mozambique (2009- March 2022). He also worked as the acting secretary general in the same organization (February-November 2019). During his professional career, he participated in the design, coordination, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and review of donor-funded municipal development programmes and projects, as well as in the development of legislation and municipal management tools. Abel also engaged with central government institutions and development partners in policy dialogues related to local governance and municipal development. He participated in several municipal technical missions across Mozambique and oversea.
