Vidar Helgesen is a former International IDEA Secretary-General.

After serving for almost eight years as the Secretary-General of International IDEA, VHelgesen was appointed on 16 October 2013 as a member of the Norwegian Government to serve as Minister for European Affairs and Chief-of-Staff to the Prime Minister.
