Alteration ofConstitutions and Supreme Court Order,

Section 38.

(1) Parliament may alter any of theprovisions of this Constitution or of the Supreme Court Order in the mannerspecified in the following provisions of this section. 

(2) A bill to alter any of the provisions ofthis Constitution or of the Supreme Court Order shall not be regarded as beingpassed by the House unless on its final reading the bill is supported by thevotes of not less than two-thirds of all the Representatives. 

(3) A bill to alter this section, theSchedule to this Constitution or any of the Provisions of this Constitutionspecified in Part 1 of that Schedule or any of the provisions of the CourtsOrder specified in Part 2 of that Schedule shall not be submitted to theGovernor-General for his  assent unless- 

a. there has been an interval of not lessthan ninety days between the introduction of the bill in the House and thebeginning of the proceedings in the House on the second reading of the bill;and 

b. after it has been passed by the House thebill has been approved on a referendum by not less than two-thirds of all thevotes validly cast on that referendum.
