South Sudan is a relatively new state, which has not conducted elections since the secession from the North. According to the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission, the status of open source software is unknown as per the moment. The chairperson states that they are due to hold elections in 2015, but this may be postponed due to a number of factors, such as the recent clashes in the area. The chairperson further reiterates that the state of use of technology in electoral processes has not yet been decided on, and that is something that will be taken up as soon as the commission is on its feet.
