Article 206

Any initiative of constitutionalreform must be adopted by Congress with the vote of the absolute majority ofthe legal number of its Members and said reform must be ratified by areferendum. The referendum may be exempted when the consent of Congress isobtained in two successive regular sessions with a favorable vote, in eachcase, greater than two-thirds of the legal number of Members of Congress. A lawconcerning a constitutional reform shall not be objected by the President ofthe Republic. The right to initiate a constitutional reform corresponds to thePresident with the approval of the Cabinet, to Members of Congress; and to anumber of citizens equivalent to 0.3 percent of the voting population, withtheir signatures being verified by the corresponding electoral authority.

Artículo 42?.- El resultado delrefer?ndum determina la entrada en vigencia de las normas

aprobadas, o la derogaci?n de las desaprobadas,siempre que hayan votado en sentido favorable a la consulta la mitad m?s uno delos votantes, sin tener en cuenta los votos nulos o en blanco. La consulta esv?lida s?lo si fuera aprobada por no menos del 30% del n?mero total devotantes. Surte efectos a partir del d?a siguiente de la publicaci?n de losresultados oficiales por el Jurado Nacional de Elecciones.
