1. The Central Election Commission (hereinafter referred to as the Commission) is a permanent collegiate state body acting on the basis of the Constitution of Ukraine, this and other laws of Ukraine and is empowered to organize the preparation and conduct of the elections of the President of Ukraine, people's deputies of Ukraine, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic Crimea, deputies of local councils and village, settlement, city mayors, all-Ukrainian and local referendums in the order and within the limits established by this and other laws of Ukraine.

1. The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appoints and dismisses the members of the Commission on the proposal of the President of Ukraine.
