CHAPTER TEN, PROCEDURE FOR INTRODUCINGAMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION,
Article 98.
Amendments and addenda to the Constitution shall takeplace by referendum.
The President or the Majlisi Namoyandagon shall appointreferendum with the consent of no less than two thirds of total number ofdeputies.
CHAPTER TEN, PROCEDURE FOR INTRODUCINGAMENDMENTS TO THE CONSTITUTION,
Article 99.
Amendments in the Constitution shall be proposed by thePresident or at least by one thirds of the total number of the members of theMajlisi Milli and deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
The propose amendment in the Constitution shall bepublished in the press three months before the referendum
The Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan is subject toamendments exclusively via referendum. Either thePresident or a total of not less than one-third of the people's deputies ofTajikistan may introduce the proposals to amend or add to the Constitution.
Iftwo-thirds of the people’s deputies vote for a referendum to be held, theadoption of the constitutional amendment will be subjected to approval bypopular referendum. However, if less than two-thirds of the people’s deputies’vote for a referendum to be held, a referendum on the proposed constitutionalamendment will not be held and the proposal automatically fails.
