25. Is there a ban on candidates taking loans in relation to election campaigns?

“(2) În cadrul oricărui tip de alegeri, cu excepția referendumurilor, Comisia Electorală Centrală stabilește, prin hotărâre, cuantumul creditului fără dobândă ce poate fi acordat concurenților electorali.

(3) În cazul alegerilor parlamentare și al celor locale, cuantumul creditelor fără dobândă se stabilește pentru partide politice, blocuri electorale și separat pentru candidații independenți, indiferent de numărul candidaților înregistrați și/sau al funcțiilor elective pentru care candidează. În cazul alegerilor prezidențiale, cuantumul creditului fără dobândă se stabilește în mărime unică pentru toți concurenții electorali.”

“(2) In any type of election, except for referendums, the Central Electoral Commission shall determine, by decision, the amount of interest-free credit that may be granted to electoral competitors.

(3) In the case of parliamentary and local elections, the amount of interest-free credit shall be determined for political parties, electoral blocs, and separately for independent candidates, regardless of the number of registered candidates and/or the elective offices for which they are running. In the case of presidential elections, the amount of the interest-free loan shall be determined as a single amount for all electoral competitors.”
