9. Is there a ban on donations from corporations with government contracts to political parties?

Art. 26(6) of The Law on Political Parties (294/2007, amended in 2025):

“(6) Se interzice finanţarea, prestarea unor servicii cu titlu gratuit ori susţinerea materială sub orice formă, directă şi/sau indirectă, a partidelor politice de către: [...]

e1) persoanele juridice care, în ultimii 3 ani, au încheiat contracte de achiziții publice de lucrări, bunuri sau servicii în sensul Legii nr.131/2015 privind achizițiile publice;”

“It is prohibited to finance, provide services free of charge, or provide material support
in any form, directly and/or indirectly, to political parties by: [...]

e1) legal entities that, in the last 3 years, have concluded public procurement contracts for works, goods, or services within the meaning of Law No. 131/2015 on public procurement”

The law states clearly that any actor/ corporation that has contracts with the government cannot donate to political parties.
