Art. 57(4) of The Electoral Code (325/2022, amended in 2025):

(RO)

“(4) Contribuțiile sub formă de donații pot fi făcute de persoane fizice și juridice, cu respectarea restricțiilor stabilite la art. 54 alin. (5), după cum urmează: [...]

2) persoanele juridice:

a) pot face donații în contul cu mențiunea „Fond electoral” și „Destinat grupului de inițiativă” cumulativ până la 12 salarii medii lunare pe economie stabilite pentru anul respectiv, dar nu mai mult de 30% din venitul anual al persoanei juridice respective înregistrat pentru anul calendaristic precedent;

b) pot face donații de mijloace bănești în contul cu mențiunea „Fond electoral”/„Destinat grupului de inițiativă” numai prin transfer, împreună cu o declarație pe propria răspundere privind lipsa restricțiilor prevăzute la art. 54 alin. (5) lit. d), f) și g);

c) prezintă spre păstrare entităților prevăzute la alin. (2) informația eliberată de la Serviciul Fiscal de Stat despre lipsa restanțelor față de buget.”

“Contributions in the form of donations may be made by individuals and legal entities, subject to
the restrictions set out in Article 54(5), as follows: [...]

2) legal entities:

a) may make donations to the account marked "Election Fund" and "Intended for the initiative group"
cumulatively up to 12 average monthly salaries in the economy established for the respective year, but not more than 30% of the annual income of the respective legal entity registered for the previous calendar year;

b) may make donations of funds to the account marked "Election fund"/ "Intended for the initiative group" only by transfer, together with a statement on their own responsibility regarding the absence of the restrictions provided for in Art. 54(5) letters d), f) and g);

c) submit for safekeeping to the entities referred to in paragraph (2) the information issued by the State Tax Service regarding the absence of arrears to the budget.


(5) Donations made in excess of the established ceilings, as well as amounts received in violation of the provisions of paragraph (4) point 2) shall be transferred to the state budget, based on the decision of the Central Electoral Commission.”

Comment

There are no provisions banning corporate donations to candidates. There are, however, limits on the donations a legal entity (including corporate ones) can make to candidates.
