"Parliament members have access to so-called “members’ money” (gishüünii
möngö) in the state budget that they can use towards programs within their constituencies. This
practice started in 2004 when every member had a budget of 10 million MNT. It increased to
100 million MNT in 2006. Then it increased to 250 million MNT in 2007, and again to 500
million MNT in 2008. By 2021, members’ budgets had reached 4 billion MNT."
