2. Is there a ban on donations from foreign interests to candidates?

Constituye infracción muy grave atribuible a las candidaturas la recepción de aportes, ingresos y/o cualquier otro tipo de financiamiento proveniente de fuentes prohibidas señaladas en el artículo 31 de la presente Ley.

Las organizaciones políticas no pueden recibir aportes de ningún tipo provenientes de: … c) Personas naturales o jurídicas extranjeras con fines de lucro, así como personas jurídicas extranjeras sin fines de lucro, excepto estas últimas cuando los aportes estén exclusivamente destinados a la formación, capacitación e investigación.

It constitutes a very serious infraction attributable to candidates the receipt of contributions, income and/or any other type of financing from prohibited sources indicated in Article 31 of this Law.

Political organizations may not receive contributions of any kind from: ... c) Foreign natural or legal persons for profit, as well as foreign non-profit legal entities, except the latter when the contributions are exclusively intended for training, capacity-building, and research.

The Regulation extends the practical application of the catalog of prohibited sources to the supervision of candidates (and furthermore, the Recital explains that Article 36-B of the LOP sanctions candidates who receive contributions from prohibited sources), so the prohibitions on foreign sources also apply to candidates.
