40. If there are limits on the amount a political party can spend, what is the limit?

Artículo 210. El 93 % del monto correspondiente al financiamiento preelectoral, se asignará a todos los partidos políticos que participarán en las elecciones, para ser invertido en propaganda electoral y gastos de campaña, por conducto del Tribunal Electoral, de conformidad con las normas de este capítulo [...].

Artículo 232. [...] Para las campañas, los partidos políticos podrán recibir en concepto de financiamiento privado, hasta un tercio del monto que le corresponde al partido que más financiamiento público preelectoral reciba, sin poder excederse del monto de este.

Artículo 1. El monto que podrá recaudar cada uno de los partidos políticos de fuente privada para gastos de campaña en la Elección General del 5 de mayo de 2024, según lo dispone el artículo 232 del Código Electoral, se ha estipulado en el Anexo A de este Decreto.

Article 210. 93% of the amount corresponding to pre-electoral financing shall be allocated to all political parties that shall participate in the elections, to be invested in electoral propaganda and campaign expenses, through the Electoral Tribunal, in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter [...].

Article 232. [...] For campaigns, political parties may receive as private financing, up to one-third of the amount corresponding to the party that receives the most pre-electoral public financing, without being able to exceed this amount.

Article 1. The amount that each of the political parties may collect from private sources for campaign expenses in the General Election of May 5, 2024, as provided in Article 232 of the Electoral Code, has been stipulated in Annex A of this Decree.

-Spending from private funds is also capped, as a party cannot receive (and therefore spend) more than one-third of the pre-electoral public funding that the highest-funded party receives (Art. 232).
