Environmental issues and Climate Change

The UK is among the most successful countries in cutting greenhouse gas emissions (-48.7% compared to 1990 levels, according to the Office of National Statistics). However, new licences for exploration of oil and gas fields in the North Sea were recently granted, and in late 2023 the Government partially rolled back on its net-zero strategy. The elections might have a significant impact in this field, as Conservative and Labour promote different climate policy agendas.
