The 1st Democracy in Asia & the Pacific Outlook Forum seeks to explore the key challenges and opportunities for democracy in the Asia & the Pacific region in 2023.
The objective of the Forum is twofold. On one hand, the Forum seeks to gather a representative sample of regional experts on democracy—in the broad sense—to discuss and reveal their views on the key challenges that 2023 will bring to democracy in Asia & the Pacific. The second objective of the Forum would be to reach a number of agreements in terms of identifying these challenges to be captured in a publication that encompasses the key discussions and conclusions of the Forum.
The Forum, at the same time, would serve as a meeting point to create a network of experts that can exchange views and analysis on the situation of Democracy in Asia & the Pacific in the coming year. Special attention would be placed on the electoral processes in South Asia—Bangladesh, India and Pakistan—as well as the repercussions of events in 2022.
