Costa Rica Íntegra, a CSO, decided to promote the interparty pact after discussions between young people from various parties and locations. Convened in Sitio Mata, they drafted 25 commitments, all agreed by consensus. International IDEA supported the initiative and participated in the launch event.

The pact includes commitments to respect the electoral authorities and their decisions, to promote campaigns free
of personal and partisan attacks, to prevent the promotion of disinformation and fake news, to guarantee non-discrimination, to reject discriminatory and hate speech, to ensure that political financing comes only from legal sources, and to guarantee the full participation of women and true equality.
