Named after the country’s first president, the award recognized Faye’s achievements as a programme specialist with extensive experience in governance, democracy and human rights initiatives.

A former youth parliamentarian, Faye has been involved in civic education, women’s political participation and youth empowerment since the age of 13. Previously, in 2014, the Moremi Initiative recognized her as one of Africa’s 25 most outstanding emerging young women leaders.

’This recognition fills me with immense pride, as it reflects how deeply our efforts resonate with the people
of The Gambia. It reaffirms that our work is not in vain and strengthens our resolve to unite in safeguarding
democracy and advancing the dignity and potential of all citizens.’
