“The National Elections Committee was established in January 2019 and held its first meeting on 16 January 2019 at the Presidential Palace in Abu Dhabi. The National Elections Committee (NEC) shall exercise all powers necessary to oversee the election process. It shall also set the general framework of the electoral process and overall supervision of the conduct of the elections. The NEC shall also support outreach and awareness efforts in relation with the elections, issue guidelines on the electoral process and identify polling stations in each emirate. In addition, the NEC shall also be responsible of adopting the regulatory procedures to form the legal framework for the elections, as well as issuing the guidelines for preparing and approving electoral bodies lists and deciding on the elections’ date.”
