Two main bodies in charge of administering elections are State Commission for Elections and Control of Financing of Political Parties and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Statistical Office is also named as the electoral body by the Electoral Law; however its functions are limited only to tabulating elections results.

§ 12. General provisions
(1) Elections are managed by the State Commission for Elections and Control of the Financing of Political Parties.
(2) District election commissions and district election commissions are established for elections; the establishment of other election commissions is established by law in special sections.
(3) Electoral bodies for the purposes of this Act are also
a) Ministry of the Interior,
b) Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter referred to as "statistical office"),
c) district office,
d) self-governing region,
e) municipality.
