Model of electoral management

Elections in Indonesia are administered by two independent EMBs:

1. National Election Commission (KPU)

2. Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu)

The law provides that KPU is an independent body. Even though the law does not state clearlythat the Bawaslu is independent, the consultations with country experts revealed that this body functions as an independent body.

Indonesia has also Election Administrators' Honorary Council (DKPP), who's functions are mainly related to the dispute resolution issues.

Indonesia, 'Law No.7 of 2017 concerning Elections', Article 7, accessed 26 June 2019

(3) In carrying out elections, the KPU is free from the influence of any party relating to implementation of duties and authorities. (google translation)
