During the general elections held in 2015 INEC used an online Voter Status Verification System on their website where people would be able to check their voter status by entering their details in the form provided on the link and thereafter click the check status button.
The system was set up in such a way that the user can query their details using three identifiers i.e. State, Last name, and Voter Identification Number (VIN)
INEC also provided an alternative verification mode where one was able to verify their voter status by sending an SMS with State, Last name and Voter Identification Number (VIN) to 081-7164-6879 in the Format: State, Last name, VIN. One would thereafter receive a response within 15 minutes.
