Constitutional Act of the Republic of Kazakhstan on “Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan”, 1995
Article 50-1.
?1. Electronic electoral system can be used during conduct of elections for the purposes of Compilation of the voter registers, voting, determination of the voting and election results in the territory of the constituency. During conduct of elections with the use of the electronic electoral system the norms of this Constitutional Act taking into account the peculiarities in the use of the electronic electoral system shall be applied.”

Electronic voting was used in 2004, 2005, and 2007 elections. OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission reports that in the 2011 Presidential elections and 2012 Parliamentary elections the Central Electoral Commission decided not to use the electronic voting system due to continued issues of public confidence and the stated need to update the system.
