Is technology used for identifying voters at polling stations (electronic poll books)?
Gabon
Electoral Law (OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF THE REPUBLIC OF GABON 1 to October 7, 2011 - No. 69)
Article 109
The signing sheets to vote and the minutes of the electoral operations are made available to any voter who can be seen on place for a period of eight days from the proclamation results at the headquarters of the electoral commission departmental, municipal, district or district.
According to the National Democratic Institute Report on the Pre-Election Mission to Gabon, July 2016, "They [Gabonese voters] advocated for electronic voter identification at the polling station, and that all polling stations be linked up to a central database. The Ministry of Interior explained that the government was handicapped by the high costs and logistical challenges linked to such an exercise at such short notice, also noting that the absence of electricity in some parts of the country would hamper biometric identification prior to voting on election day."
