Issues of sub-national referendums regulated at the national level

Legislation does not stipulateany restrictions on the possible subject and scope of referenda. New Zealandhas no written constitution and inherited a system of full parliamentarysovereignty; when it introduced a system for referendums it maintained thatbreadth for potential referendum issues.
