Regionalor local referendums are decided by the concerned municipality or countycouncil (bodies elected in general elections) and regulated in special laws;Act on municipal referenda; and The Local Government Act. A local referendum issometimes held parallel to a national general election, and on those occasionsthere are some special rules at hand for certain administrative procedures. However, the municipality is the responsible body for the local referendum andnot the central election authority.
