LAW ON THE EXERCISE OFLEGISLATIVE INITIATIVE BY CITIZENS

Article 1

(1)Iniţiativa legislativă a cetăţenilor se exercită cu respectarea prevederilorart. 74 alin. (1) şi (2) sau, după caz, ale art. 150 din Constituţie,republicată, ?n condiţiile prevăzute de prezenta lege.

(2)Iniţiativa legislativă a cetăţenilor se exercită printr-o propunere legislativă?ntocmită ?n temeiul art. 74 din Constituţie, republicată, ?n domeniul legilororganice sau ordinare, iar ?n temeiul art. 150 din Constituţie, republicată, ?ndomeniul legilor constituţionale.

Article74: Legislative initiative

(1)A legislative initiative shall lie, as the case may be, with the Government,Deputies, Senators, or a number of at least 100,000 citizens entitled to vote.The citizens who exercise their right to a legislative initiative must belongto at least one quarter of the country's counties, while, in each of thosecounties or the Municipality of Bucharest, at least 5,000 signatures should beregistered in support of such initiative.

Article 150: Initiative of revision

(1) Revision of theConstitution may be initiated by the President of Romania on the proposal ofthe Government, by at least one quarter of the number of Deputies or Senators,as well as by at least 500,000 citizens with the right to vote.
