Lourdes González Prieto is a Mexican expert on elections. She manages the International IDEA program to support democracy in Paraguay.

Her work focuses on capacity building for the Superior Electoral Court of Paraguay. Its aim is to improve the quality and transparency of elections, and to make the electoral process more inclusive. This implies increasing the participation of underrepresented groups such as women, youth, indigenous communities and people with disabilities.

González Prieto's previous work experience includes serving for 16 years as Deputy Director, and then as Director of International Political Affairs at the Federal Electoral Institute of Mexico. She joined the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in 2010 as the Director of the Elections project in Haiti, and then served as the Director of the Elections project at UNDP Burundi until 2015. In 2016 she was Head of the AI ​​Party in Haiti and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), before joining International IDEA in March 2017 to open the new office in Paraguay.

She is an accredited facilitator for Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections (BRIDGE), and is ranked at level D1 on the United Nations electoral list.
